The long winter season appears to have finally come to a dramatic conclusion, and we are now seeing temperatures beginning to creep up to seasonal norms.
Now is also the perfect time to recognize the great work that our MPS “Winter Warriors” have put in over the past 6 months, with their fantastic effort in maintaining our customer sites throughout all the snow and ice that Mother Nature sent our way.
Our snow plow operators, grounds crew personnel, salt truck drivers, area supervisors, office staff and dispatchers all worked together to provide the services that kept our client properties safe for staff and visitors. This is often a very challenging prospect for our team members, and involves great dedication to manage the irregular work hours, 24-hour availability (being called out any time day or night), and working weekends and holidays, including Christmas this past season. Long shifts are also expected as just “part of the job” in our industry in order to have sites cleared by morning and kept functional during the day.
This dedication was boldly on display throughout the prolonged ice storm that passed, slowly, through the GTA from April 14-17. Battling through all of the rain, snow, sleet and ice was not easy, but our Winter Warriors made us all proud!
It can be tough on snow & ice management workers at times and tough on their families too, and we would just like to express our sincerest thank you and appreciation for all that they do, and did, for MPS this past winter.
At MPS, we like to recognize and reward effort whenever possible, and this year we introduced the “MPS Winter Vacation Give-Away Program” as both a reward and an incentive for our winter staff.
At our recent end-of-season BBQ party, a $3000.00 travel voucher for a vacation was handed out through a draw to one hard working winter warrior. Eligible winter team members increased their odds of winning by maintaining a great attitude and being helpful to all, being reliable and available throughout the entire season, going above & beyond the call of duty, being recognized for outstanding customer service by our amazing clients, referring new winter workers to MPS, and for taking good care of their vehicles and equipment.
With many team members also being recognized by their supervisors, often multiple times, through “in-event” nominations for exceptional work, the draw-jar was brimming with deserving names.
We are very pleased to announce that our worthy winner of the vacation give-away was 12-season snow removal veteran Alex Maggiore, who not only led one of our site-dedicated grounds crews, but also put in many hours performing loader snow removal work and working on our Night Patrol crew when not working during snow events. His hard work, reliability and continuing dedication to providing great customer service made us all proud! Well done Alex, and all of us at MPS wish you all the best for a wonderful vacation. You definitely earned it. Just please make sure that you come back!
